Contract milker’s Danielle and Bevan Cornelius are this year’s massive StockRock $8000 farm race upgrade promotion winners. Danielle laughs that she always says to her husband she is going to win the StockRock prize. For the last three years she has made a point of coming to the StockRock stand at National Fieldays to enter the prize draw. She can’t quite believe that this year, out of 129 entries, they actually have won!
The couple have been contract milking on a 96 hectare farm in Turua, with 315 Holstein/Fresian cows for the last 3 years and plan to take a step up next season and go sharemilking on the same property.
The farm race currently is covered in rotten rock and Danielle says “to be honest where the yard is just turns to sludge. We get a lot of lameness as the feed-pad and tanker track are right next to our cowshed so heaps of stones get carried onto the yards. “
StockRock should be a huge help in sorting this out, by providing a soft race surface allowing cows to move freely. When StockRock is applied to farm races, cow flow to and from the shed is dramatically improved and herd lameness is reduced. Farmers find that sharp stones no longer turn up in the yards reducing the incidence of stone bruises and hoof infections.
Congratulations Danielle and Bevan, Shane and the team at StockRock will be sorting your race out very soon!
